Yesterday a bunch of major artists woke up and decided to do Rockstar’s marketing for them.
Travis Scott, Rauw Alejandro, CA7RIEL & Paco Amoroso, Fred again.., Future, Yung Lean, and more all dropped custom Grand Theft Auto-style artwork on Instagram within hours of each other. Most of them tagged Rockstar. The visual language was identical: that classic GTA poster treatment, Vice City neon, sports cars, yachts, the whole aesthetic.
Travis Scott went the hardest with “Now it’s time. My return to game gotta come with rage and a lot of dancing. Let’s ride.” Rauw Alejandro simply said he sees us in Rockstar’s world. The Argentine duo posted a yacht scene that Fred again.. immediately reshared. Future’s camp threw up a “VCE BBY” license plate. Other names floating around the same window include Metro Boomin, PinkPantheress, Morgan Wallen, and even Keith Richards.
This wasn’t random. This was a coordinated rollout. Instead of a dry press release listing radio stations, Rockstar let the artists themselves announce their involvement through the one platform that actually moves culture right now.
What it tells us about the GTA 6 radio dial is pretty clear. We’re looking at a wide spread: modern trap and rage (Travis, Future, Metro), Latin urban (Rauw, CA7RIEL & Paco Amoroso), UK electronic and club (Fred again.., PinkPantheress), country (Morgan Wallen), and classic rock DNA still in the mix (Keith Richards). It matches everything we’ve already heard in the trailers and Extended Look — old-school cuts sitting next to current hits that actually play in South Florida.
Travis Scott’s post hits different too. He’s been teasing GTA 6 for a while, including that “GTA6 VI6” plate in one of his videos last year. Looks like the “return to game” is finally locked in.
KEY POINTS:
- Coordinated Instagram campaign from major artists in the last 24 hours
- Travis Scott, Rauw Alejandro, Fred again.., Future, and more all posted GTA-style art
- Strong signals for trap, Latin, electronic, country, and rock representation
- Rockstar is letting the artists do the marketing
- Soundtrack is shaping up to be one of the most stacked in the series
Rockstar didn’t need a big presentation. They just let the musicians post fire artwork and watched the internet do the rest. Efficient. Petty. Extremely effective.
Cope Level for anyone still thinking the radio is going to be mid: NONEXISTENT. This thing is going to be ridiculous.
— Chimi Chingon, Cutscene FM. Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to go load up a stolen boat and argue with the talk radio hosts about whether Travis Scott counts as a main-eventer.
